Use the right tools
Compressed air, a soft brush, and a microfiber cloth are usually enough for regular keyboard cleaning. Avoid direct liquid sprays or sharp tools that can damage the key mechanism or scissor clips.
For pressure under the keys, use a gentle brush and keep the laptop powered down while cleaning. This reduces the risk of accidental key presses and also lowers the chance of dust moving deeper into the chassis.
When professional cleaning is better
If the keyboard has sticky keys, liquid damage, or several dead keys, a technician should clean the board and check whether the keyboard ribbon is still in good condition. This is the safest path before the problem spreads.
