Battery Swelling in Laptops: Why It Is an Emergency

A swollen battery pushes the trackpad area upward or causes the chassis to bulge. This is often a result of chemical breakdown inside the cells and it should never be ignored.

Do not keep using the laptop while the battery is swelling. If it is warm, overheating, or leaking, immediately stop charging and disconnect the power.
