Start with driver health
If Wi‑Fi drops often or the Ethernet adapter disappears, the driver may be corrupted or incompatible. This often happens after a Windows update or when the wrong driver version is installed.
Open Device Manager and check whether the adapter shows a warning sign. If it does, uninstall the device and reinstall the latest driver from the laptop manufacturer or chipset vendor.
Check the network stack
Resetting the network stack and disabling power-saving for the adapter can make a visible difference. Some laptops lower performance to save power, which is fine for basic browsing but not for heavy downloads or streaming.
If the issue occurs only on one network, the problem may be with the router, not the laptop. If it happens everywhere, focus on the adapter and driver setup.
