Test it in a controlled way

Connect an external monitor to see whether the problem stays only on the internal display. If the external display is fine but the built-in one is flickering, the issue is almost certainly in the display assembly or its cable.

Thermal changes and screen movement can also reveal a damaged flex cable. If the flicker changes when you open or adjust the display, the fix may be the cable rather than the panel itself.

When a replacement is justified

If the display is physically damaged, has dead pixels, or continues flickering in all conditions, panel replacement is usually the right step. The key is stopping when you have the actual cause.
